Friday 12th December was my last weekday to myself before the summer holidays began so even though the weather forecast wasn't great I drove up to Mooloolaba which I'd seen recomended in a Brisbane Facebook group. It was a lovely town to wander round by the sea and it reminded me of several of the other seaside towns I'd been to on the east cost. When I arrived there was a large group playing rugby on the beach and I found another board walk to meander along leading to the Spit.
Jack is turning 5 next week so on Saturday 13th December a bouncy castle (called jumpy castles here) was squeezed into the garden and a handful of small boys decended.
The local cheese cake shop provided the cake again, this time adorned with Spiderman.
After the party and a bit of tidying up, I took the train into the city. My journal will be full before Christmas so I tarted myself to a new one from Typo - interesting that I'm replacing my Paperchase one with an Aussie equivalent. I treated myself to dinner at Jamie's Italian which I think has only just opened and wrote a blog post on my other blog - http://observationsofathirtysomething.blogspot.com.au/2014/12/the-jcb-song.html?m=1
I had a little time to spare and found this group hanging out on the corner. Then I remembered they were part of the Myer Christmas Parade.
Although I was right at the beginning of the parade and didn't manage to see much of the of the performances it was still great to see all of the costumes.
Today, Sunday 12th December, I've been into the city again, this time to visit the Christmas markets on the Southbank. Chilling and wandering I've managed to get up to date on my blog and journal as well as buying a Christmas Tshirt.
The Christmas/summer holidays start tomorrow so I'll be entertaining the three kids full time until I fly back to Sydney on the 23rd. I'm looking forward to all of the fun that this time of year will bring.
