The end of one chapter and the beginning of another.

Monday 23rd February 2015

After pottering around the house all day I headed out in the late afternoon to join a rehearsal for a Mardi Gras promo video. I needed to be at a dance studio at Millars Point which involved a walk through The Rocks. Google Maps is great but when there are hidden stairways and small alleyways involved it's difficult to reply on my trusty app! But on the plus side I did see some awesome hidden gems including the underside of the Harbour Bridge. This new (to me) area reminded me of Docklands in London.

Tuesday 24th February 2015

I managed to get Allegra to school just in time today and before her ballet lesson, Eliza and I snuck in a couple of games of Uno.

When we got home we did some cutting and sticking, finding some interesting patterns in a home furnishing magazine.

Wednesday 25th February 2015

Just a regular day looking after the girls today but I'm still amazed by the local birds. We often see rainbow lorikeets, kuckaburas and cockatoos flying around the street!

Knowing I'd be out at choir the next day, I began to get my belongings together as I'd be moving out at the weekend. I wondered whether it would all fit back into my backpack!

Thursday 26th February 2015

Although I don't usually look after the girls on a Thursday, Sarah had a lot of work and meetings this week so I did the school drop off and pick up. In between though I went up to Chatswood to look round the shops.

Once Sarah was home, I took the bus to the city and found this 13 year old kid wowing the crowds in Pitt Street again. He really does know how to attract an audience!

Passing the town hall, the rainbow flag was still fluttering to celebrate Mardi Gras fortnight.

After choir, I went for a drink and after the long wait for the bus in previous weeks, this week I only just made the bus home!

Friday 27th February 2015

The girls were full of energy this morning and they pranced around in the hall before leaving for school!

Just after we dropped Allegra at school the heavens opened and it poured with rain! So Eliza and I jumped on the bus up the road! She was so excited!

As it was my last day in Northbridge I treated myself to a cafe breakfast - scrambled eggs on toast!

After school Allegra went for a play date so Eliza indulged in a Callipo each which turned our tongues pink!

And then we enjoyed a dip in the pool.

Saturday 28th February 2015

At around 11am Len gave me a lift to the station. Both he and Sarah were very grateful for helping to look after the girls.

After checking into the hostel I returned to the city and enjoyed lunch at Jamies Italian. I knew there were Dragon Boat Races at Darling Harbour so I checked them out and also caught some dancing dragons.

It was also good to see the inflatable zodiac signs from the twilight parade still on show.

In the evening I spoke to Stuart and Jamie and we had an in depth conversation via his teddy bear!

Sunday 1st March 2015

Today was quite a day - or at least the afternoon was. I took the light rail to the Maritime Museum where I had lunch in the restaurant. Then I met about 25 members of SGLC as we were going to feature in a promotional video for Mardi Gras. To make things interesting, there was also a storm forecast so we had to shelter from heavy rain, strong wind and thunder/lighting while trying to rehearse and shot the video!

It was so much fun donning Freddie Mercury moustaches and singing/dancing amongst Freddie tribute acts. We had lots of time waiting around so we took the opportunity to create amusing photos and also huddled like penguins to keep warm!

When the shooting was complete we enjoyed free drinks at the after party.

Monday 2nd March 2015

The main thing that filled today was a trip to the cinema to see Selma - an average film with a powerful ending.

Tuesday 3rd March 2015

I had quite a morning - waking up before my alarm but still managed to be late meeting Steph,  forgetting to tap onto the light rail which made me even later!  When I finally made it we looked round the Chinese Friendship Garden which was really calm and peaceful. There was lots of brilliant artwork and also the signs of the zodiac to find.

I then tried to go to Paddys Markets but they're closed on Mondays and Tuesdays! Instead I looked round Market City.

After lunch I went to Glebe library but wasn't very inspired so found a costume shop in Surry Hills to get a top hat for the Mardi Gras parade. Trying to be clever, I caught a bus back from a different stop but ended up on the wrong bus!

Before bedtime I had a very excited facetime call home as mum would be leaving home to visit me in 12 hours!

Wednesday 4th March 2015

Preparation day for mum's arrival! So lots of grocery shopping, packing and un packing. I'm all set for her to arrive in the morning. Excited doesn't even come close!

Every story has an ending but in life every end is a new beginning.
