After a lazy day playing with Eliza, having lunch with the family and writing some blog, I took the bus into the city to then take a train to Dulwich Hill for an SGLC alto sectional. This was a good opportunity to get to know some of the other members in an informal setting, practise some songs and have a laugh in the process. Reece had had a birthday party the night before so we heard some stories from the evening and also shared some delicious birthday cake. At the end of the evening Penny kindly gave me a lift to Central station to return home.

The morning was filled with a few jobs at Broadway Shopping Centre including buying black trousers for choir. After some lunch and a relax in the Queen Victoria building (where I found these hanging lanterns) I met Steph at Town Hall.
We took a train and a bus to Brighton beach (officially Brighton-Le-Sands) because the forecast was good however it turned out to be incredibly windy. The cookies and apples we ate were delicious to start with but in the end were covered in sand. They tasted yummy anyway! I discovered that Steph is a secret segull whisperer having a very in depth conversation with her new friend!
Although Brighton-Le-Sands sounds very posh the view wasn't the most spectacular and it was while I was gazing over the sea to the aiport that I declared 'Oh, it all makes sense now!', much to Steph's amusement. It wasn't until she began to chuckle that I realised that it had sounded as though I had solved the meaning of life and the universe when in fact I'd just made sense of the view from the aeroplane as you fly from Brisbane to Sydney!
Giving up on being battered by the flying sand, we returned to Martin Place before enjoying a snack at Circular Quay. Then we continued to Dawes Point to admire the lit Terracotta Warrior lanterns. Once again they were pretty spectacular.

Luckily I was up on time today because for some reason I turned my alarm off rather than my usual trick of putting it on snooze! While Allegra was at school, Eliza and I made a rainbow tiger mask, Eliza enjoyed a ballet class and we played several board games.
In the afternoon, after Sarah took over the childcare, I had a quiet time but did manage to change my flight home so I can take full advantage of my full year here.
Wednesday 18th February 2015
After a regular day of washing etc, I took the girls to the park straight from school because they were keen to play outside. They played on the apparatus as well as is their 'den' before heading home about 40 minutes later.
While Allegra did her homework with Sarah, Eliza and I finished some more animal masks. In the evening I listened to Allegra reading and I think we both enjoyed spending the time together.
Thursday 19th February 2015
Now that my crocheted fox is finished, I was keen to begin a new project so I explored a couple of wool shops to buy supplies for a Viking beanie hat but couple find exactly what I wanted. I was due to meet Janet and Clive at lunchtime and had some time to fill so I read my book in the park at Wynyard and people watched in Martin Place.
At 1pm, Janet, Clive and I found each other at a lovely restaurant tucked away at the end of a lane. Together we enjoyed a delicious lunch in a busy environment but I guess the other diners were business people because by the time this photograph was taken just before we left, the place had completely emptied!
We spent our time together catching up on our travels and I'd mentioned the Terracotta Warrior lanterns so we walked up to Dawes Point to have a look. Then we enjoyed ice creams overlooking the harbour and listening to the didgeridoo player.
Taking the bus down to Glebe, I met several other choir members who climbed aboard. I arrived at Glebe Town Hall early but listened to the SGLC singers rehearse while the rest of the choir slowly turned up.
After rehearsal I went to the pub with a few others and we began drinking on the balcony before being moved indoors due to licensing laws. I'd forgotten how nice it was to socialise after rehearsal and it meant I didn't have to hang around at Wynyard for the bus home.
Friday 20th February 2015
Although this was just a regular school day, and a cleaning day so beds were stripped, I enjoyed admiring the girls playing teachers while I baked some cakes.
Then in the evening we played some Uno and Pictionary as part of Games Night.
There is a superhero inside all of us. We just need the courage to put on the cape.
