Are we nearly there yet?

Singapore Airport

So this blog is beginning in Singapore airport with the plan to finish it in about 14 hours in Sydney. I've made it this far with no probs. Just lots of mooching about in airports. Left Heathrow at 21:35 on Tuesday 24th June...

We had an amazing view out of the window somewhere over Ukraine/Russia...

The sky kept changing colour through different shades of orange, brown, yellow and blue. Just before I took this photo it was a deeper navy blue and reminded me of the album cover of Passenger's All the Little Lights album.

Rather aptly the song from the beginning of Forrest Gump has just started to play in the airport. I feel a bit like the feather floating about waiting to settle.

Singapore Aiport is a bit strange. Loads of shopping opportunities but nowhere to sit! They also have a little indoor garden...

...a 'social tree'...

...and a couple of World Cup pods to keep up to date with scores, standings and watch matches.

The time here has flown by (pardon the pun). Right, back on a plane!

Sydney
I've made it to Australia! It seems to have taken daaaays to get here. The lady next to me on the plane was so friendly I have her address and telephone number in case I get homesick and want some 'family time'.

Unfortunately it was still dark when we landed at 5:05am so no landmark spotting, only lights.

The rest of the day has mostly been about sleeping and food! Luckily I could get into my room as soon as I got to the hostel so slept for a couple of hours. Woke up hungry so went and found food then slept for another 4 hours before forcing myself to wake up and going to buy more food!  Tonight's a barbecue in the bar downstairs before heading back to bed! I wonder if the jet lag will have worn off by tomorrow?!?! I hope so.

  1. Glad you've arrived safely after your epic journey. Sleep as much as you need to, then go exploring! xx
